Named
in honour of Steve Irwin. First discovered by Steve and his father Bob, on a
trip in the eighties. It is one of the rare turtles that can stay underwater
for long periods, as it takes water in and can extract the oxygen. Again a
critically endangered species, and only known to us because of Steve’s
enthusiasm and knowledge of his environment.
